Inception Viewer Reviews
Inception

INCEPTION is an intriguing and innovative attempt by director Christopher Nolan to explore the world of dream invasions and subconscious mind travel. Leonardo DiCaprio, as Dom Cobb, is a master thief adept at invading a person's dreams and extracting corporate secrets. Now he must invade their mind at multiple levels and implant an idea that will evolve into reality, a case of inception.

The film moves along quite well with past paced action. But the dialogue becomes repetitive at the expense of discussing the more interesting aspects of mind travel. There are dreams, dreams within dreams, and dreams within dreams within dreams. Special rules are made up as the story evolves to control the action at each dream level. This becomes confusing and irritating for the moviegoer, but in this case, it is necessary for the plot to develop.

After two hours of enduring this sci-fi thriller plagued by tediousness and boredom, I made an unscheduled visit to the restroom. There I decided to forgo the last half hour of the film, and allow one of my deep dream states to fabricate a satisfying ending for this film. INCEPTION is NOT the epic movie of the decade that some people think it is. As a mind blowing cinematic experience, it failed. Nevertheless, it is a bold, engrossing film that creatively explores the unexplored world of multilevel mind travel. As such, it is well worth seeing.

The Kids are All Right Viewer Reviews
The Kids are All Right

The outstanding performances of the talented Annette Bening and sexy Julianne Moore make this comedy the best film of the summer. It is a sophisticated, insightful, and humorous movie with realistic characters whose touching humanity and foibles are traits we all can relate to. The film revolves around the relationship between two aging lesbian partners and their family struggles to raise their two children. The comic misadventures start when their curious 18 year old daughter seeks out her sperm donor, who is later invited to have dinner with the family. Their awkward encounters with Paul, the sperm donor, reveal the family's conflicting personalities, their daily struggles, and their uneven character development. These serious themes are addressed in a realistic, heartfelt manner with a healthy dose of wit. You can't help but being drawn into the lives and experiences of this family due to their stark realism and persevering cohesiveness. This is easily an Academy Award winning film!

The Twilight Saga - Eclipse

The effects of this movie were cool.
I thought it was better than the other two Twilight movies. They followed the book pretty closely. Also, I thought Taylor Launtner was a good choice for Jacob. I recommend seeing this movie if you've read the books!

Although the movie ECLIPSE does drag a bit in many of the scenes, the intense performances of Bella, Edward, and Jacob make it well worth seeing. Elements of their relationship evolve into an old-fashion romance. More of the physical side of Jacob is seen, and the perplexities of Bella's decision are revealed. The cinematography is unsurpassed with the forests, mountains, and landscape, while the set design, make-up, and action sequences are top notch. This film focuses more on the interrelationships between the three characters than on vicious, werewolf fighting. It's well worth standing in line to see it!

Grown Ups

I was quite surprised by this movie. I took my teenager and was expecting another one of Adam Sandler's goofy movies, but I actually found it to be quite amusing. Another thing that threw me for a loop was all of the other actors, usually when they have more than one "star" it just turns out that they are using the names to sell tickets. This was not the case. This is the best I've seen this group of actors. The jokes are funny, the characters are believable and doing things we might be doing. Great acting and funny. This film had me giggling so much that my cheeks hurt. I guess you really can't judge a movie by it's case.

my fiancee and i went to see this movie and we loved it! it had us laughing the whole time, had adult commedy and things that the kids could laugh at and not understand the adult version! it really made me think about how things are now and how much more simpler they were back then when we didnt have cell phones and computers running our lives! every family needs to spend good quality time together with out distractions like these families did!

Knight and Day Viewer Reviews
Knight and Day

It has been a while since I've sat down to a movie and enjoyed it this much. Yes, it is a silly action flick at times, but primarily it was a mindlessly entertaining escape that wasn't filled with a slew of predictable one-liners. Diaz and Cruise, while not my favorite actors, were endearing and easy to watch. The movie flowed well, had fun action sequences, witty bits, and held my attention from start to finish. Plus, a good ending--how often do we get those??

I will admit to you, when I went to this movie I was not expecting too much. I haven't enjoyed a Tom Cruise movie since Jerry McGuire and had not heard the best reviews.

This movie had thrills, comedy and romance. Cameron Diaz was very entertaining and had great chemistry with Tom Cruise. The stunts were amazing and the action sequences kept you on the edge of your seat. Overall this is a VERY GOOD movie and I was very glad that I took a chance on seeing it despite my reservations.

The movie was enjoyable, however it could have been more believable at times. Does anyone not allowed on a plane due to overbooking and then allowed on the aircraft with hardly anyone on board, and she doesn't question this?

I saw the original Karate Kid when it came out in the 1980s. I would say this was as good or even better than the original. It was fun to watch this movie. Everyone was cheering for the good guys.

Get Him to the Greek Viewer Reviews
Get Him to the Greek

I really enjoyed the movie GET HIM TO THE GREEK. It is an adult comedy that is just plain rowdy, uncouth, and shocking. The raw script holds your attention as it takes you on a wild and chaotic adventure filled with obnoxious and raunchy humor. Actors Jonah Hill and Russell Brand do an outstanding job together generating tons of laughs in one fast paced, mind boggling episode after another. Russell Brand, as the aging, decadent rock singer Aldous Snow, gives a stellar and unforgettable performance as an untamed, abrasive, drug-ridden rocker trapped in a world of loneliness that is devoid of friendship. This is a Guys Gone Wild type of movie that is sure to please, if you enjoy this form of humor.

Sex and the City 2 Viewer Reviews
Sex and the City 2

SEX AND THE CITY 2 is not a movie with a compelling storyline or plotthat explores the lives of maturing New York City women. Rather, it isa 146 minute escapist movie that entertains us with a deluge ofdesigner fashions, opulent furnishings, and a fantasy lifestyle in theenchanting land of Abu Dhabi. As such, it is a movie that will pleasethe devoted Sex and the City crowd with its addiction to female bondingand dreamy fashion styles. The rest of us are left with a script thatlacks real depth, a slew of poor dialogue, and the absence of THE CITY,the vibrant New York City. Fans of the TV series will be entertained toa magic carpet ride, while the others will wander aimlessly in thedesert.

MacGruber Viewer Reviews
MacGruber

"Saturday Night Live" has been responsible for more of than its fair share of terrible sketch spin off movies (The Ladies Man... Superstar), so I'm happy to report that with "MacGruber", they finally got it right.

Here is the basic premise of the story: MacGruber (played by Will Forte) is a Special Forces operative who has been out of action for ten years after the murder of his fiancee. Also, he sports a mullet. When his nemesis, terrorist Dieter van Cunth (played by Val Kilmer), gets his hands on a nuclear bomb, MacGruber must return from seclusion to defeat him. To do this he is aided by a crack team of operatives including Kristen Wiig as the love interest and Ryan Phillippe as the straight man.

"Macgruber" is lowbrow comedy at its best. It carefully juggles tasteless and vulgar jokes with a performance of childlike innocence that seems to keep it from becoming raunchy. The tone of the movie is that of a 1980's action movie with even the main characters wardrobe seeming to come from that era. Also, the movie does great in that it does not limit itself to the original sketch in anyway. In fact, the events in the reoccurring sketch never actually happen in the movie. This works in the movie's favor and helps give it a freedom to do whatever it wants.

The best thing about this movie is the acting of the leads, especially Will Forte and Kristen Wiig. Forte gives the character his full devotion and is willing to for anything necessary to get the laugh without seeming desperate. Wiig, who is always funny, does a great job as sidekick. A lot of people are put off by Wiig's loud and nervous characters but in MacGruber she shows a much more subtle side that makes her character the perfect sidekick without overshadowing the star. Phillippe does a solid job in his role, which does not really have any comedic tone and Val Kilmer delivers a few chuckles. Overall, the film is consistently funny which cannot be said for most movies today where all the funny parts are in the commercials.

That said, this movie does have an "R" rating and it certainly does deserve it. If you are easily offended or have young children you may not want to see this movie. The movie does have strong language throughout and it also has a scene in which woman is a topless model for Dieter Von Cunth to paint. There are two "love scenes" that are somewhat crass (one of them hilariously realistic involving Kristen Wiig) but neither of them show any actually nudity except for Forte's butt briefly in one of them. Also, Forte bares his bottom about 5 times in the movie. It is actually very funny, but just a warning to easily offended folks out there. As far as violence there is not a lot other than people getting shot and a couple of throat rips at the end.

Overall, the movie was hilarious. Definitely the best SNL comedy since "Wayne's World" back in 1992. I walked out with a feeling similar to the first time I ever saw Austin Powers. It was just a lot of fun to watch.

I would rate this movie 4.5 out of 5

Robin Hood Viewer Reviews
Robin Hood

Russell Crowe is a charismatic actor of epic proportions who is tailor-made for the role of Robin Hood. This medieval adventure leans to the dark side presenting Robin as a withdrawn, somewhat subdued hero whose personality suffers from a tortured past. This rendition of the legend paints a picture of a harsh, gritty, and ugly time period. But the cinematography is overpowering: beautiful landscapes, detailed costumes, eye-opening fight sequences, and wide angle, unforgettable scenes.

Unfortunately, the film is over 2 hours long, and thescreenplay is a bit choppy and convoluted. The multiple story lines are notcoherently intertwined. The romantic connections with Lady Marion are just toounderdeveloped. Nevertheless, this is a must-see epic film whose visual imageryand historic value are quite a treat.

Iron Man 2

Sequels are always tough to pull off. People go into the theatre with such high expectations and seldom do they live up to those expectations. While I don't think Ironman II was quite as good as the original; I think it was a VERY Good movie.  I enjoyed the introduction of Nick Fury, War Machine and the Black Widow.  I enjoyed the tension between Natasha/Pepper/Tony and ultimately was pleasantly surprised with the conclusion.

It was definitely great, a lot of action and excitement.  There was humor, sentiment, high tech action and suspense. Orurke did great a great job and he was perfect for the part. The rest of the cast was also exceptional...

Although this is an entertaining, action-packed film that delivers thrills, it's the solid performances of the star studded cast that make it a great, memorable movie. Robert Downey, Jr. renders a superb performance as Tony Stark. We gain more insight into his flawed and complicated character. He is a driven man with a huge ego, but we discover his lighted-hearted side in his quest for World Peace. This sequel is just as good as the original, even though it seems bogged down by too many subplots. This movie really delivers big due to the fine performances of all the major and supporting characters.

I found Nightmare on Elm Street to be very enjoyable for a remake. It was similar to the original without copying it too closely. It was filled with blood and guts which is what you expect when you think of Freddy Krueger. I thought this movie focused a little more on the reason for Freddy showing up in the dreams of the kids. I found that to be very informative and understandable.

The Back-up Plan

I liked this funny and entertaining romantic comedy with Jennifer Lopez. She's made for these types of movies, and does a swell job. It has a novel and twisted storyline that leads to a host of zany and outrageous situations. I just wished that there was more chemistry between her and Alex O'Laughlin. At any rate, Jennifer Lopez demonstrates how she can handle any embarrassing scene and turn it into a real winner.

We actually went to see kick-ass but they were sold out so we ended up watching this movie, not even knowing what it was about. Surprisingly I thought it was pretty entertaining. It kept me up and full of suspense. I think it would be more of a rent movie rather then paying a lot to watch at the theater.

This was a great action movie! While the premise of thesoldiers being framed for a despicable crime is a bit far-fetched; the mannerin which they seek retaliation is quite entertaining. The comedy interspersedin this movie is often quite hilarious and Chris Evans/Jake Jenson could easilycarry a movie on his own with his comedic abilities and physicality.
